After fighting for equal pay for over a decade, the U.S. women’s soccer team exclusively shares with TODAY and NBC’s Stephanie Gosk that they have reached an agreement. The terms include sharing World Cup prize money equally with the men and women’s players.

I support the decision but the way Sauerbrunn says equal pay for equal work is so ignorant and she’s a very smart person. This tack taken by the USWNT will lose fans. When you start forcing equal pay, you're going to get equal outcomes. There will be less incentive for men to play to win since they won't get to keep all of their winnings. Fewer players will strive to play professional men's soccer and will seek other sports that are more profitable. I predict that the men's team will be HORRIBLE within a decade if they keep up this charade.
These women are jokers
1. Put a table on the sideline at midfield.
2. Put a check for the revenue the men bring in and a check for the revenue that the women bring in on the table.
3. Men and Women play against each other.
4. Winner takes the bigger check.
if you go all the way back to the start, when they were offered the same contract as the mens team, it should have been a take it or leave it offer. none of this would have happened if they were denied the opportunity to make a counter offer. Now we're all the way back to the start where their idea of bargaining for a different, better contract is now thrown in the can and they are having the same contract as the mens team shoved down their throats.
Imagine having a much worse product being sold, and those selling it get the same as those with the best product. This isn’t equality, it’s equity and it’s disgusting to see the mens team taken advantage of this way. So much earned that’s undeserved.
If you’re one of the people who thinks this makes sense because the womens team dominates every year, does that mean if they weren’t as good they wouldn’t deserve equal pay?

This is far from equal and worse then the previous deal. Sports entertainment is all about revenue and is how professional players have always argues "correctly" on why they should be paid more. As bad as the Mens team is in preforming in the mens game it still brings in more money. Now when it comes to the Base pay for these players, I honestly am ok with it and it makes sense Even though mens games bring more money then women's . HOWEVER, the pooling prize pool money is a joke. Men lose money no matter what women will receive parts of there share. The las women's world cup The USWNT received 4 Million for WINNING the World cup, while the Mens team will receive 2.8 Million for Qualifying this year. Why is this? Because its estimated due to REVENUE that the Mens World cup will have an Estimated 440M Prize pool where the Women's side only had a 38 Million. Lol you think the sports world really supports this, wait until they try this argument with the WNBA

It is not 'equal work'… GTFOH.. But honestly… any takes on the over/under for when the women's program sues again for wage discrimination in a few years, saying "the men should not be receiving any of our prize winnings!"
I fully support the ability for compensation based on revenue. There should be a set base pay without what is generated from the Male tournaments. Earnings based on winning should go directly to the individual teams I.e The girls should make more bonuses because of what they’ve done on the field and that should be built into the contract of USA soccer. My argument has always been that there’s a reason the G league teams don’t make as much as their counterparts in the leagues above them. They work just as hard and have just as big of dreams. Piggybacking off of the NBA to me would be nonsensical. To that point, Ialso don’t think That the men’s gymnastic team should get the same as the women’s team based off what they bring in. No one should try to base their preferred income off the likes of Symonne Bryoles intake. Male models shouldn’t be crying about Heidi Klum and Gretchen’s money because they are not bringing in as much. But congratulations to them Can’t blame them for a milking the system. ?

So the mens team ist awful, generates less money and wins no medals.. and they get half? What? This is a step in the right direction but its still not fair, everyone should get paid according to their success not strung along by the better (in this case women) team.

Isn't this a pay cut for the USWNT? The USWNT now have to share 50% of their 1st, 2nd and 3rd place money with the USMNT? And the USMNT have to share 50% of their $0.00 from not winning the World Cup?
So did the women take a pay cut or did the men get a raise?
So if 20,000 people buy tickets to watch you play and another league has 90,000 people . How do you pay the lesser watched league when theres not nearly the same amount of money generated from sales?
Again leave it to the men to take one for the team… Revenue sharing .. take from the men to support women’s lousy viewership, sponsorship… how is this “fair”
