  1. In reference to one of the last topics y’all talked about in this episode, why aren’t many people going to the games? It’s because of our political climate, most of the people who support soccer/football are of Latino descent and most people probably don’t even wanna step outside their house right now because of that. Our political climate in this country is killing the enthusiasm for Soccer and or the World Cup

  2. Thumbs up on the Tolkin statue lol! As a USA and Scotland fan, gotta say that this has been one excellent week for soccer….and no, I do not want them playing each other in the group stage Rog! Oh and local boys the Pittsburgh Riverhounds just won the USL championship and added another trophy to the city of champions!!!

  3. USA sucks. Everyone knows that. Yes fifa will tell the refs to give them a game or 2 but everyone knows it’s corrupt for viewing audience.

  4. Herc has it wrong. Pochettino’s offense at regular was not because of a Spanish/English misunderstanding and because Poch thought “regular” meant “average”. It was because Poch thought it was disrespectful to the players who played that they’re not considered “regulars” whereas the guys who didn’t play are considered “regulars”. Herc, I know you love to show off your flawless command of Spanish even when it’s not necessary (it’s ok to pronounce Uruguay in the English way when you’re speaking English. Unless you plan to start pronouncing other countries natively also, like France) but this was one of those times when your Spanish did nothing more than cloud your understanding of what Poch said.

  5. 2 months ago everybody was asking Pochettino to be fired and now everybody is excited. Maybe if a lot of you would have listened to him and understood what he was trying to do he wouldn't have gone off during the last press conference.

  6. The amazing parts isn't that we won but who we won with. Well done, USMNT. I was going to go this game, but then I saw what they wanted for tickets and just stayed home to watch on TV, instead. TOO EXPENSIVE–ridiculously expensive. Four years ago I paid $150 to see the US play Panama in Orlando. That was a bit pricey but doable. This Uruguay game was four times that. Sorry. Not paying that.

  7. This is an all time victory that US Soccer has been looking for for decades. Using US or MLS players to win in this setting. Like even 10 years ago was this possible? Let’s celebrate it. This is a big step.

  8. My god can US Soccer pundits change with the wind. Everyone knew the US was in a slump and that they can play better. But the reality remains that they're not a threat to win the World Cup. So can you all settle in on an acceptable target for 2026 – say a QF berth, and stop whining for the next 6 months please.

  9. Herc, I often disagree with you, but you told no lies on this cast.

Uruguay looked like kaka. They looked lethargic. They looked like they were expecting a "friendly" against the "United States". What they got was punched in the mouth by a motivated and clicking Poch-led side. And I agree, the shape they were in, the way they showed up is THEIR PROBLEM. 100. We just capitalized.

As fans, I think we've all been waiting for the USMNT to show up with some fire and play with some pride. We've gotten it in higher and higher doses over the last 3 windows. And as Rog said, I think we're all over the moon with this win.

Freese completely bungled the cross that eventually led to the goal. If a keeper comes out, he HAS GOT TO COME DOWN WITH THE BALL. He shouldn't have come out in the first place, w 2 defenders already around the ball, but, since he committed, he had to win the ball. He didnt. I'm not sold on Freese, b/c of stuff like this. Also the ball wasn't cleared as it should've been. Our defense still nods out at the worst times. And truth be told, when the Uruguay midfield really focused and decided to slice through the US midfield, they did, with ease. But team defense kept some of their more potent advances (relatively speaking) in check.

Freeman is the new right center back, for sure. He and Dest are nice combo on that right side.

And yes fans are not going to games largely b/c this team has been phoning it in for the last 3 or 4 years. They've finally had a decent run where they're playing with the kind of pride — and getting the results — that make fans pay attention. But you can't throw money at this problem of attendance. You can't advertise your way to full stadiums. This issue falls squarely on the USSF, the past coaching staffs and their results, and the players. We, the fans, will show up the more they do. Period.

But for sure things are trending upwards. There's still a lot ot fix, but the USMNT are on a good run.

    Onwards and upwards.
