Not good enough manager understands that
Verdict: Failure at the WC!
IF JK were still in charge. Pulisic would likely be the 9 and Balogun a wing, and we've have scored 5 times as many goals in the last two cycles.
Bring Mr Cling back
The coach has a plan in place that the announcers don't agree with but in the end, there's just too much of a gap between the top 10 countries and the rest of the world. US likely not to get out of the first round.
Lol, Herculez Gomez AND Klinsmann? Does two guys who have no idea what they're talking about cancel one another out?
poch is so condesending to the reporters and by extension it appears he thinks the US Fans dont know what ball is
They’ll be lucky to make it out of the group stage.
USA should call Alejandro zendejas !
These pundits over analyze this sh*t alllll the time. This isn't about tactics, strategy, preparation… that's all bullsh*t. The fact is this: Our players are still wayyyy below the best nations' players in terms of talent, but more than that, soccer instinct.
WC Classification: 1 Portugal, 2 Spain, 3 France, 4 England, 5 Germany, 6 Argentina, 7 Japan, 8 Brazil, 9 Croatia, 10 Colômbia, 11 Marroc, 12 Senegal, 13 Correia do Sul, 14 Neeterlands, 15 Belgium and 16 Uruguai.
In 20 games Portugal NM Team will win 18 against USNMT. In Woman Soccer in 20 games against Portugal NWT, USNWT will win 18.
Honestly i think pochettino needed confirmation for the players that were on the fence on making the team. He got his confirmation with many players that are not strong enough like turner, ream, arfsten, cardoso, etc. If any of them make it they'll be bench warmers.
A gear or two Portugal didn’t even put out the best 11 it was a friendly for Portugal. It was everything for the US.
Idk why everyone keeps blaming MP, he's just being honest, the usa team is not that good, its not elite level, its skill level is not where the media makes people believe it to be, that said he's just trying to provide perspective to everyone to stop being lofty about their level so come back down to earth, for him it's probably about to see what he can do with the team he has against better teams in the wc so the usa has a decent showing instead of where the pundits are thinking and trying to sell group d is a cake walk to the public where they'll be disappointed because they were told something and realized it was the opposite, he just wants to be realistic and have people realize the teams level.
Group D is actually a wild card group not a walk in the park like the media keeps saying.
Your way too negative Herc
Leaving a 100$ million striker unmarked at the top of box on a corner from Bruno is amateur u13 rec league mistake. I don’t care the line up. And the two touch through ball from vitinha that broke two lines showed Americans something to think about. Vitinha routinely does this. US doesn’t have players who can do this. The us team is a result of pay to play, favoritism of certain players, and selection favoring the wrong player attributes.
Please poch pick a system and tactic and stick with it…cant believe i have to say this 2 months before a world cup
Soft, inconsistent defense and no finishers. Pulisic can only do so much when opposition is double-marking him. I know Belgium and Portugal are strong teams, but I'm afraid that going to have to re-evaluate my hopes for the Cup….
At least we’re not Italy.
guy reading the teleprompter smh
They act like USA has won something
Really tired of everyone on the Pulisic bandwagon. Done nothing
Poch can talk about intensity, but it looks like it's not just a matter of will. It looks like these guys don't fully understand how to work together as a team. So, they don't know how to channel their intensity due to a lack of clarity and understanding. It's like middle school and high school teams full of energy but not understanding how to play.
I'm fearing the USMNT will go out like the 1998 WC in France.
More international games would be good . Build strong chemistry within the team
Until the MLS transcends from one main league to a two or three tier, and better yet open right into regional/smaller leagues just like the top leagues in the world and most footballing nations, then US football will not improve. MLS is just not competitive enough, not in a matter that it will grow and help grow the national team program. And I missed the name, but the reporter outside spoke of USMNT being slow.. the thinking in MLS is mostly slow, even Zlatan spoke of this. They run all day but the football IQ is 10 paces back. A promotion/relegation system puts a lot more pressure on every club to have a long term plan, good scouting, and having a strong squad. Smaller teams may even have an easier time uncovering future talents and with a multi tier cup play, the bigger teams will have an opportunity to spot talents and get the player to the top level. The population is way too big in the US for their football program to not be top 20 and compete with top teams.
You can put all these nonsense talking points aside. US ultimately lost to Portugal for one reason and one reason only. Their defensive positioning on both the Portugal goals was worse than that of a typical U10 team. And that's not even hyperbole. The defensive mid ran up mindlessly and vacated the middle on the first goal. And you had virtually the entire starting line-up in the goal box on that second goal on the corner kick.
