The USSF has to be the most backwards thinking Federation on the planet. We all know the obvious but the approach they’re taking and the words they chose to use was absolutely a huge step backwards for us.
Can someone please explain in detail what exactly the USWNT are arguing for when they say "equal pay"? What does that even mean? Are they honestly arguing that all the players should be paid the exact same amount across the board? There is not a single video or news article actually trying to break this down. They just parrot "equal pay" without explaining what that even means or how that would be implemented.
Why do people say equal pay, the men are paid when they only play so using the argument that the women won the world cup and the men didn't even qualify so the women have to be paid more is baseless.

So, the women have had a great run. And the men…they have been not so great, especially the last 4-6 years. But keep in mind that many other countries have not spent as much time developing the women’s game like the US has. So, the skill level the women play against has been…ill just say under developed. Over the next couple WC and Olympic cycles I think things will begin to change. And then this situation will probably look a lot more like the WNBA. So, WNT better get while the getting is good.

"the men and women should play each other and then we'll see who's better" is an overused suggestion. our women have nothing to prove. they've been ranked #1 in the world for YEARS. they've broken lord knows how many records. they have higher attendance, higher ticket sales, more revenue, more viewers. they've told you what they deserve. why are women always having to prove they're equal? the men never had to beat anyone to get paid more, so why should the women? pay them equally, it's not that hard.

What you all fail to realise is that a large proportion of payments for National teams comes from FIFA as payment for teams playing at world cups. The prize pools for mens & womens football at world cups are vastly different. All governing bodies involved with football need to embrace equal pay for equal play. An opportunity for the states to lead in this area but a football minnow like Australia has shown the way. The deal in Australia is by now way perfect for it's female players, but it beats the majority of football nations hands down.

If the women do perform equal work than what is the argument against a co-ed team? Shouldn’t it just be based on revenue the teams bring in? Technically the women could bring in more since they do win more. I would love to see more co-ed sports, but if it was based solely on competitive ability, women would be at a huge disadvantage physically overall.
