It was a remarkable year for the U.S. Women’s National Team and especially for Carli Lloyd. She led the team with 18 goals, including six at the Women’s World Cup, half of those coming in the first 16 minutes of the now-famous Women’s World Cup Final. The Golden Ball winner as the top player in the Women’s World Cup, she won her second U.S. Soccer Player of the Year Award this year and is a finalist for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year.

Good choice, but I also think Becky Sauerbrunn should have won. The defense was stellar all WC, but Carli only got hot once Morgan Brian came on. The offense was pretty anemic at times. Broon also won NWSL defender of the year. Scoring is always overvalued in all sports, though. Oh well, Carli is deserving (as were several others), she had some spectacular highlights, especially that casual or non-fans took notice of. I just wish Becky got the recognition she deserves (and defenses in all sports).

Finally she's getting some love and recognition that she deserves. Big fan of Carli since the beginning. If you people think it is only about the hat-trick in the final, you're completely wrong, she's been consistently good for years. even she should have won this award last year.

She only won because of the Hattrick in the World Cup final. Becky should've won, she showed up every game in the WWC whereas Lloyd only showed up from the Quarter Final and on.
I feel like hope should of got it she was the one keeping all the goals out and making incredible saves. But Carli did good too

To the people that say Broon should have won, Yes Becky has been exceptional this year but Carli Lloyd was out of this WORLD! She has been absolutely phenomenal and produced some stunning displays that will live on forever in the History of Women's Football! She wholeheartedly and undoubtedly deserved this award! Congrats!
Honestly, I love Carli a lot I think she is amazing but I strongly believe that Becky Sauerbrunn should have won. She is the heart of the defense and the team and she does not get the recognition she deserves
