  1. Listen Canada is playing out of there minds and are the best coached team with some good high quality players. They have pinched there ticket to the World Cup. But let’s not sit there and act like they have been here before I’m 47 and was it like 1986. When they last made it. So as much as I am happy for them. Let’s not act like folks are scared of them. I believe US and Mexico completely underestimated them

  2. USA Coach Gregg ….. handing out participation ribbons to his players after their 2-0 loss to Canada…..'cuz they'd had the greater ball possession.

Uh-huh…… USMNT program is in good hands.

  3. Canada all together from coaching to players are good can't deny that, but if the USMNT don't have that hunger or a coaching staff to match their talent the USMNT aint going anywhere.

  4. Winning The Turkish League as Besiktas' starting striker is no joke. These games are easy compared to the big 3 Derby's in Istanbul. The experience served Cyle well, I remember he was really green when he was in Orlando.

  5. The funny thing is even in the 2000s, Canada had some players here/there that were rated a bit higher than the US, like Radzinski, Stalteri, Bent, DeVos and several others. They had questionable coaching… but they were IMO the sleeping 'giant' back then. Food for thought though… this mentality isn't new at all. I remember in the past they had guys that refused to back down and didn't play afraid. That's not their M.O. I remember Ian Hume being quite fire and challenging/bullying US players on the pitch too. Respected the way he played and it paid off! And somehow, Hutchinson is still playing.. what a vet!

Meanwhile the US are missing something. The players have a lot of quality and talent in different spots. But there's a lack of urgency in some areas. It's not like from 2012-2018… where you had guys skipping big leagues and challenges for the comforts of lesser competition. The US has some players doing good things. I really liked Hoppe, but never liked his move to Spain. Of all things staying in Germany, or IMO England would've been a better fit – he's the type of player I think they need. Also… it goes to management. It's so political, the US scene. And when you lose a game like this one… and say how dominant you were… it borders on delusion IMO. Canada had a game plan and executed it perfectly. They conceded possession and destroyed the US on counters and silly mistakes. Oh and BTW, they have the quality to do that with half chances now. How'd that get overlooked? Especially after the last two encounters? That isn't 'dominant' to me to make those mistakes, it's lack of confidence, focus and maybe quality. Just the opposite.

It's glaring when you see the lack of imagination with the selection and inability to 'read the room', i.e, the next match. Similar to Klinsmann in 2016 prior to the Mexico game. He totally missed the atmosphere of that window and Mexico's energetic approach & what it meant to ruin the 2-0 AND BEAT THEM in the US on that day. After, an already deflated side were thoroughly crushed in Costa Rica. Honduras has nothing to lose. Berhalter and the US does. I only see potentially 3 points for them in the next window given the manager and his approach. Pulisic has taken some hits from fans/press but remember what he said about the US back in September… that they needed some new ideas. Doesn't that seem to be ringing true?

  6. I would like to pinpoint that Canada never play against real powerhouses in friendly's. It's always easy competition. I would like to see Canada play against teams like Germany, France, Brazil, Spain etc. Then let's talk!

  7. It's funny how everyone now thinks Canada is a powerhouse because they beat the US. Woooohooooo. Wait til they get to Qatar, won't make past round of 16 ??

  8. Big up the Canadian Caribbeans and Africans taking Canadian soccer to dominant team in the region. See what happens USA when you have no financial barriers to black kids playing soccer?

  9. He’s 100% right Canada doesn’t fear anyone and it showed. The one player to me who stood out with that mentality the most? Buchannon. That dude played with an intensity that no other player on that pitch displayed. Every time he was fighting for a ball he was giving someone a push and in every scrum he was in someone’s face. I cannot wait to see this Canadian team at the World Cup

  10. A major issue that the US federation actively ignores is how the USMNT fairs when playing away. Every year, the Gold Cup is played in the United States, meaning that they've never played in a hostile environment. All 3 of those victories against Mexico were at home, but in 5 away games they've defeated last place Honduras, tied El Salvador and (controversially) Jamaica and lost to Panama and Canada with Costa Rica and Mexico left. As for the 3 victories to Mexico last year, they were all on US soil in front of their supporters. And this isn't new, as the US in the last World Cup qualifiers only won once in 8 away matches and it was against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines while suffering away losses to Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Guatemala.
