  1. A great win! off to the world cup. John Herdman will have to improve our midfield that was terrible today. We won becuase we were more clinical . Jonathan Osario and Kaye are nice lads, but out of their depth. We are 1 injury away to Estaquio to disaster.

  2. Milan is so classy. He is a proud Canadian and it is a pleasure to watch him play and listen to him speak. He is the leader of this team and I am happy for him. Keep in mind that Milan was part of the dark days, including the 8-1 pounding in Honduras 10 years ago so it is awesome to see him here during the best time in Canadian Mens Soccer history. Crazy saves the past two games

  3. Wow with three key players missing I wasn't really expecting this result. But Fantastic! I loved that 2nd goal. SWEET.

For those who may not want to work all the math out, here's where Canada now stands:
    – I now put Canada at about 96% probability of qualifying for Qatar 2022
    – It is nearly impossible for Canada to 100% secure qualification after Wednesday's matches, no matter what happens. The exception is if the USA and Panama lose and Costa Rica does not win. But if Canada wins, and the USA and Mexico both lose, they will be a hair's width away.
    – The most statistically likely table count at the end now is: CAN 28, MEX 25, USA 24, PAN 23, CRI 18, ELS 13, JAM 12, HON 5. That means that both the USA and Mexico are very vulnerable to finding themselves in 4th position and needing to head to the play off.

Also, neither El Salvador nor Jamaica are theoretically eliminated yet! They are alive by almost impossible scenarios. After Wednesday they will both likely be 100% out.

And for those who are wondering just how many points Canada needs before you can sleep without anxiety:
1 Canada could not gain another point and still qualify in 2nd or 3rd place
2 Canada could theoretically get to 24 pts and still end up in 5th position
3 Canada could theoretically get to 25 pts and still end up in 4th position
4 Canada could theoretically get to 26 pts and still end up in 4th position, if PAN could also reach 26 and pass Canada in GD
5 Canada is guaranteed to qualify if they can reach 27 points
6 Canada could theoretically reach 28 pts and still finish 3rd, if US and MEX both reach 28 pts and both attain better GDs
7 Canada could reach 29 pts and still finish 2nd behind one of the US, MEX or PAN
8 Canada could reach 30 pts and still finish 2nd to either the US or MEX if GD is worse
9 Canada is guaranteed to finish 1st if they reach 31 pts

1 thru 4 are very very low probabilities, but they do exist.

Sorry for those who don't care for numbers, but I can't help but analyze. Canada is almost there but not quite! So no celebrations yet… Will update after Wednesday.
