David Beckham on His Commitment to Youth Soccer in the U.S.

David Beckham chatted with Ellen about the recent launch of his Inter Miami CF soccer team, and talked about how he’s committed to giving an outlet for young athletes in the U.S. to play and grow in soccer, as well as creating a legacy in the sport that means so much to him. Plus, Ellen had a special gift for David, whose feet have inexplicably grown a full size over the years.

  1. Europe – Football
Asia – Football (Asians call it football okay. I know cuz I'm an Indian)
    South America – Football
Africa – 95% calls it Football
    New Zealand – Football/Soccer
    Mexico – Football
    Canada – sOcCEr
    Australia – SOccEr
And finally the US – It's called SoCcEr ! You gotta admit it !

  2. I´m European and I´m so tired of people saying "it´s football, not soccer". Different countries, different names. It´s not a big deal.

  3. Beckham is an ambassador for soccer because he came to America humble whereas soccer is viewed as an upper class elitest sport in the US. American soccer would benefit greatly from embracing Mexican, Brazilians, and Central/South American football too since Latino soccer fans are very polite, respectful, and eager to teach the sport.

Europeans whine about people calling it soccer, whine about Americans not knowing famous footballers or clubs, while about Americans not being able to pronounce the names of teams, and other petty nonsense. Latinos and Portuguese Brazilians are pretty eager to find Americans who are interested in soccer and love to teach it. Europeans love to judge.

Brazil has produced more talent than anyone and they don't even brag as much as Europe does. Alot of European soccer fans are super rude, arrogant, and ignorant. The word soccer itself is British which shows how ignorant they are when they argue with Americans. It's there attitude that makes soccer unappealing in the US.

True Europe has to the top leagues, but the greatest football players of all time are largely South American — Pele, Maradona, Ronaldinho, Brazilian Ronaldo, Messi, etc.

  4. He' s a bit thick isn't he ? . If his boots were almost a 10 and now he's a US 11 , thats the same size. Does he not know UK are a size less than USA after living there.
